Places to Visit
Marsala and surroundings
Mount Erice is one of the most evocative places in western Sicily. Located at an altitude of 750 m, it is a typical medieval fortress. You can stroll through the narrow streets, eat the typical sweets and admire the beauty of the Castello di Venere. It can be reached both by car and by cable car.
Egadi Islands
The archipelago of the Egadi Islands is made up of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo. You will fall in love with their crystal clear waters and small characteristic towns to discover Sicilian traditions. Reaching them is simple: you can take advantage of the Liberty Lines ferries and other private charters present in the Port of Marsala.
Wineries
The Marsala tradition and culture revolves around the wine culture. Marsala has numerous wineries in its territory: Florio, DonnaFugata, Fina, Pellegrino and many others. It is possible to visit the cellars and take a unique food and wine journey, to discover some of the most renowned wines in Italy.
Mozia
Mozia was an ancient Phoenician city, located on the island of San Pantaleo, in the Stagnone of Marsala. In 2006 Mozia, together with the ancient Lilibeo - the archaeological part of the city of Marsala - was included among the candidate sites as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A unique place full of history!
Seas and beaches
Western Sicily is a land of sea and breathtaking beaches: Marsala offers white sands to the south and shallow, warm waters to the north, perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing. In San Vito Lo Capo, less than an hour's drive away, the golden beach and crystalline sea are considered among the most beautiful in Italy. Not far away is the Zingaro Nature Reserve, with enchanting coves and beaches.
Archaeological sites
Western Sicily is rich in testimonies of populations that go through the Hellenistic-Roman period, the Muslim settlement and the Norman-Swabian and medieval periods. The archaeological parks of Marsala, Agrigento, Segesta and Selinunte were created to preserve these treasures and are open to the public almost all year round.
Stagnone reserve
The Stagnone nature reserve is a small corner of paradise. You will be fascinated by the colors and smells of the Marsala salt pans and the beautiful windmills. You can go around the Stagnone by boat or experience the thrill of kitesurfing by contacting the many schools and spots in the area.
